Students often learn about the Cold War in chronological order. This activity offers them an opportunity to explore 10 aspects of the Cold War.

You could make your own visual clues, perhaps put into a PowerPoint presentation which could be playing, with suitable soundtrack, while the students are working through this puzzle. The first 8 could be done by all, with the last 2 perhaps by the more able only. There ought to be a prize for anyone getting number 11.

You could, of course, set this as a homework task, to create a Blockbuster game, using just some of the ideas below, but encouraging students to be more creative and imaginative. They could download images, making sure they came from this era, and make their own Cold War overview which focused on features of Cold War rivalry, rather than just the events.
