
Those of you familiar with the technique Dear Producer will know that it asks pupils to evaluate how well a particular video explains a given question. So instead of watching a short video clip for information at the start of the topic, the approach is flipped so that pupils watch it critically at the end of a topic and are therefore well-placed to judge.
At the very least the video clip serves to consolidate some pupils’ learning, but the real benefits come with the higher-order thinking that comes when pupils have sufficient confidence in their own understanding that they can even critique a made-for-schools BBC film clip- in this case on the Greek legacy.
