Excavations in Kent have just revealed that there were STONE Saxon churches being built in England as early as AD 633. The one at Lympinge was believed to have been founded by the wife of King Edwin who played a pivotal role in taking Christianity from its heartland in Kent into the northern reaches of the country. The excavated church measured only 15 m by 5m and comprised a simple nave and chancel separated by a triple arch.
