1. Advocate
As well as being an ambassador for your subject ( e.g. always setting appropriate cover work) on your relationship with SLT is really important. Keep SLT up-to-date and don’t be afraid of letting them know the good work your team is doing, whether it be your fantastic contribution to improving students’ literacy or your links with primary school/community. Remember to always be positive, when it is easy to be negative. Ask for time to consider the latest SLT initiative rather than immediately showing your opposition.
2. Inspire
So, who else is going to do this if you don’t? When teaching is so relentlessly hard work, with few breaks and lots of pitfalls, we need someone to lift our sights. This may easily be witnessed at
