This session comprises two very simple tasks: matching objects to the young children who would usually play with them, followed by a follow-up task, this time on the theme of wheeled transport where children have to sequence 3 images and match them to who would play with them: toddler, 3 year old and 5 year old.
The aim is to develop confidence in talking about time within a very familiar context.

- This covers toys suitable for a range of pupils so that children start to develop their understanding of time within a familiar family setting
- Pupils can describe how toys change as children grow older
- They can match toys to children of the right age
Step 1
Having focused on children’s own toys that they play with at the moment, move to thinking of other people’s toys, including toys they no longer play with. Activity 1 asks Who plays with these toys? on slide 2. So show slides 3, 4 and 5 and ask children to predict the age of the children who would play with them. Then show slides 6, 7 and 8 to confirm whether they are right or not.
