Having elicited pupils’ initial knowledge of castles from books film and family visits, pupils are asked to explore a number of images in order to work out what makes a castle a castle. They are then shown new images to apply their knowledge to show understanding. This is consolidated by asking children to actively watch a short video excerpt which they then evaluate: how well does the video answer our key question?
