The department is an 11-19 comprehensive school serving Hounslow. Approximately 80% of the students are from minority ethnic groups. The proportion whose first language is not English is well above that found nationally. The proportion of students eligible for free school meals is high. The proportion of students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities is in line with the national average although the proportion with statements of special educational need is significantly above national levels. There are 40 feeder primary schools. So, this is not an easy- win success story from a school in the prosperous leafy ‘white’ highlands of Hertfordshire.
