Example of effective use of ICT in teaching history
1. Simple word processing
Children can highlight text, copy and paste to put words or images into 2 columns, such as old and new. They can create labels for museum exhibits. They can write simple narratives. Above all, they can write to a set number of words making excellent use of both delete and word count functions. Examples of this type of activity might be creating a commemorative plaque for a famous person.
2. Desk top publishing
Completing front pages of a newspaper, when an existing frame has already been produced to save time. Examples might include a report on the rescue of Grace Darling or the events of the Great Fire.
